The last couple years I lived on Whidbey Island a feral cat found my backyard a nice hunting ground. He (or she) sometimes sat for hours staring in my direction, oddly, I noticed, on days when I’d neglected my writing. Ever since I’ve considered any cat that crosses my path – especially a black one – my muse.
Saturday, JUNE 3, 10:30 am – 4:30 pm we’re writing again. Join me and my good FRIEND.

Join me for another Virtual WriteAway over the shores of Puget Sound. 10:30 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time.
Click HERE to read about how these began and for a prompt or two, if you like. Write whatever you please. Bring your pen or keyboard to the view, even if you can only fly by for fifteen minutes or an hour during the six – I’ll be here, cheering you on. I believe everything we bring to and express in our writing has grace, beauty, and power, and that everything to do with writing – especially our desire to – rises, shimmering EVANESCENT.

Join me Saturday Mar 18, 10:30 am-4:30 pm… WriteAway to your heart’s content.I like to play with my Muses via prompts randomly chosen from books. Like Monica Wood’s The Pocket Muse. And Heather Seller’s Chapter After Chapter. Some writers recoil at the thought of timed writing but to me it’s like a go! dive into deep water, knowing the bell will save me if I’m having trouble breathing. Other times I’m cruising the high seas and the bell has me stop mid-sentence which often reveals a perfect ending. Sylvia Nibley’s beautiful decks of Inquiry Cards are great prompts. Each time I pull the perfect question to mine the core of a character or situation. Julia Cameron’s The Right to Write holds short essays with an “Initiation Tool” at the end of each to try. And new to me, but not (it’s 2003), Pat Schneider’s Writing Alone and With Others has an index “List of Exercises” and over 50 pages of “Additional Exercises” to keep you writing long past the bell. Hope you can join me. Write well! xo – Pierr

Join me! virtually, 10:30 am – 4:30 pm Pacific Time, for a day of writing. Pretend we’re here in the little house I used to live in on Whidbey Island, Washington state, overlooking Admiralty Inlet and the Olympic Mountains. You can write inside (same furniture) or outside on the deck, or sit on the grass and dangle your legs off the cliff side.We may have visitors…I’m fleshing out the world of a children’s fantasy novel.I like to use timed prompts:
Hope to see you here! xo Pierr (that rhymes)
