Wow, such a tropical feeling in this picture!
I never noticed that before, maybe because it’s cold and rainy here. But rhodies do grow to huge heights in the tropics so hey! I’ll pretend the air is like a sauna. Thanks, Marina!
Yes, fool your mind! The photo does not give away that cold wet feeling, so let’s play pretend 🙂
Loved seeing your illustration process for The Children’s Garden in your latest newsletter. You’re certainly braver than me, sticking that beautiful cover under the faucet! Thanks for sharing this interesting gouache technique (love the seed packets) and best of luck with your new book, looks great!
Yes, I must admit it’s a little nerve wracking putting a painting to the sink, especially after hours and hours of detailing, knowing there will be several more hours of touch-up to do after. But the results are way more interesting and rich than I could come up with on my own, so it’s always worth the risk. Thanks for the luck, Marcia!
I don’t think I’ve never seen Rhodie buds before, pretty neat. Thanks
Funny, I grew up with rhododendrons but had forgotten how yellow they are to start. Their roots run nearly on the top of the ground so they like lots and lots of water. I suppose you grew up with bougainvillea and palm trees, being a southern California child?
So pretty – and I agree, tropical! 🙂
I’m totally convinced now. Thanks, Snow!
