Springing to Yellow

March 12, 2017 § 9 Comments

Today’s post is inspired by a blog I follow: The Snow Melts Somewhere and her post today, “Collecting Yellow” She was inspired by two things, a WordPress photo challenge theme from two years ago (here’s mine > – ORANGE – which I remember having fun putting together, too), and another blogger, Marina, and her wonderful post on meexploring.blog.

Here’s what I dug up from my archives, starting with the flowering field and going clockwise: Mustard – growing in Ebey’s Preserve on Whidbey Island, WA; Yellow Truck – Bainbridge Island, WA, 4th of July’s antique car exhibit; HAND-Stand jewelry display I made and sold in my Esty shop, pierrmorgan.etsy.com; Prickly Pear blossom, Tucson, AZ at the Azure Gate B&B; Rubber Ducky, found in the Hanalei farmer’s market day parking lot on Kauai, HI; and “Star Fruit & Lemon”, a gouache (“goo-wash” -opaque watercolor) painting I did and sold on my website, pierrmorgan.com.

This was fun. Looking for yellow I discovered two things – I have very few photographs of yellow objects in nature and/or out and about, but I use yellow quite a bit in paintings from my imagination. Maybe the result of a Vitamin D craving (deficiency?) from living in the northwest.

Here’s wishing you a sunny mellow yellow week!Β  xo Pierr

  • A beautiful collection, they go so well together! The rubber duck made me laugh πŸ˜„ And your yellow painting is very beautiful – I would love something like that on my wall! I think you might be right about the vitamin D deficiency, hahah! 😊 I have a craving for yellow right now! I’m so happy to have inspired you, have a great start if the week! 🌼

Thank you, I will I will! I think it’s going to be a ‘noticing yellow’ sort of week. Thanks too for the art kudos. I’ve been in a dry spell but got a nice drink of water and sunlight yesterday revisiting my paintings. Cheers!

Such an optimistic collection – it made my evening sunnier instantly! Here in Norway the lack of vitamin D is the same πŸ™‚ Thank you for joining the challenge! Or, it was not a challenge πŸ™‚ but now I feel like going on a photo hunt for yellow :))
I loved the rubber duck – and I have the same, sitting in my shower.

Thank you, Marina! Yes, I think you’ve started a movement. Yellow on our minds…and in our mind’s eye. Rubber ducks unite! Hunting down yellow around the globe. Quack-quack!

Haha, thank you for keeping up that spirit! Quack-quack! πŸ™‚ Or in Russian: krja-krja πŸ™‚ Make this an international day of rubber duck!
Starting a movement, that makes me feel such an influencer, lol.
