Surprise of the New Decade

So Tam said we’d leave right at 1:00 which was odd – I’m usually the one in charge of schedules. We drove to The Pub a great eatery here on Bainbridge Island. “I sure wish you drank,” she said. Something decadent about having a beer in the middle of the day. Already spinning from turning 60 I just smiled. Truth be told, I feel like I’m 12 most of the time, younger even, as far as what I know about the world, how things work, how one does life – admittedly confused unless I’m creating something.
We head into The Pub to lots of people waiting but Tam walks right by them as if she’s the hostess. “The sign wasn’t out,” I tell her. “It’s not seat-yourself.” I’m also in charge of security. She turns and grins and then I see Aaron & Kelsi !!SURPRISE!! I’ve been laughy weepy over them ever since. A birthday I’ll always remember. This is life. This is how you do it. With people. In Love.
