Go Fish!

April 22, 2011 § 2 Comments

Some days have a theme. Mine started out with a magazine collage where I pasted down a tiny photo of a fish mosaic. In fact it was the piece I spent the most time placing, just so, for some reason I don’t know. I love making collages for that reason. It’s okay not to know anything. You simply cut out images that catch your eye, arrange them in a way that pleases you, and paste ’em down. Done.

Then I went into the studio and created a couple small fish paintings for the “Almost Perfect Sale” coming up on Bainbridge Island at the Gallery at Bainbridge Arts and Crafts there next weekend (April 29, 30 and May 1). FUN.

Then I went for a beach walk. Holy cow! Er, fish!

And then I saw this one which is not to be believed but there it is, eyeball and all – a concretion copy of Aztec art.

Holy Cow … er, FISH is right! For me it’s been the bird nests which have caught my eye … in your collage and throughout the day. The biggest thrill was when a red-headed woodpecker flew across the highway in front of me as I was cycling up Mill Creek to the OR border.

Seems every artist has a “period”…you are
in your “fish period” right now. They are
    swimming all around you!!
