Sketch a Day?

April 15, 2011 § Leave a comment

Saw my first Mourning Dove of the season in my yard today. I didn’t walk. Too cold and wet. And I didn’t sketch either. This is from my trip to Tucson last May and a wonderful warm sunny stay at friends Dennis & Christine Widman’s B&B, the Azure Gate.

I drew this mama dove as she sat on her nest outside my guest room window. She had built a cozy roost tucked up into the eave of the roof, right on top of electrical wires that span the beam there. Ohh how I long for the desert whenever I hear that lone and rounded tone, whoo-coo, coo, coo.
