Herald of Spring

Look!  A Red-Winged Blackbird. Can you hear him? See his yellow wingbars? His tail down, head feathers ruffed up and his long sharp beak open in glorious song? Wheee! It’s Spring!

Red-Winged Blackbird females & youngsters?

Not certain, but I think these are all Red-Winged Blackbird females. They look like Sparrows but their beaks are longer. There were twice this many all in the same budding thicket with our bold singer. Traveling. Hope they stay.
