Blink of an Eye

Today I actually forgot to walk. It began with a mini blizzard that left an inch of snow and slush. Then sunshine left the hours green. But somewhere in between then and now I lived a rainbow that I could not catch on camera because I looked away. You’ll have to draw it in here, at the lower right corner, its treasure end dipped deep down into Penn Cove where the mussels grow.

Two hours later the sky produced this gem . . .

. . . in all its splendor along Admiralty Inlet.

Ice Age

Fairy Snow all morning teensy tiny perfectly round seed flakes dusting rocks and sand and seaweeds with a powdered sugar. Driftwood wears a new look.

Our quick freeze air creates movie sets for an ice age version of The Dark Crystal. Can’t you just imagine the creature that might step from the dark doorway behind the ice? Or the wise old soul that ambles toward us steadying itself with a paw along the clay wall?

Things are growing. Nothing still about Winter.
