Cliffside Ledgewood Beach, Whidbey Island WA

Paring back to pack for New York and the Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators Winter Conference. What does one really need? Shoes for snow. Coat for cold. Earmuffs.┬áSomething to write and draw with/in, bottle of water, snacks and a book. It’s good to know what is essentially you. Glue stick. Tiny scissors. Bananagrams. But if all these things were taken away I’d still have me.

Have a wonderful week. See you again on Groundhog’s Day.

I spent the morning at Woodmoor Elementary doodling and collaging with second and third graders. It was loads of fun. Wonderful kids. What strikes me about them – and all children – is The Flame. That spark in their eyes ever readyyy – set – go! to be curious, to learn, to play, to imagine, to push the envelope. Like tiny rockets burning bright from the heart.

I am re minded, re charged. Thank you.
